Edmonton Family Day Activities

Monday, February 20th marks the first long weekend of 2017! If you’re out of ideas on activities to do this weekend, we’ve found some great events to attend with your loved ones.

Silver Skate Festival

If you weren’t able to check out the Silver Skate Festival in Hawrelak Park, Family Day is your last opportunity. This 10 day, family oriented event runs yearly in Edmonton’s River Valley. Hosting more than just ice skating, there’s also snow sculptures, winter sports and horse drawn sleighs. The action happens from 9am to 9pm daily, with Family Day being the last day.

Family Fun Day at City Hall

You can expect hay rides, bannock roasting, ice skating and games and activities at City Hall and Churchill Square this coming Monday. Free skate and helmet rentals will even be available and food trucks will be on site. What better way to spend the day with loved ones in our city’s downtown core! The fun starts at noon and goes until 4pm.

Family Day Unplugged

Have you ever thought about unplugging this weekend? The City of Edmonton is supporting a new initiative to get people to unplug from technology for at least two hours on Family Day long weekend. Just pledge it as a family and play board games or other activities while unplugged. Are you up for the challenge?

Family Day at the Legislature

Have a blast with your loved ones this Monday at the Legislature from 11am to 4pm. Featuring music performances, aboriginal dance and games, live music and much more, you’re sure to find something fun to do indoors or outdoors.
